Ahhh...The Area: Bay
Howdy y'all! We are currently in Daly City, which is very close to San Francisco. It is cold here...much much different than the Texas/Arizona weather we experienced earlier this trip. Today is Annie Lin's birthday, so...somehow contact someone and say "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" She is twenty. Holy. Smokes. This entry is a tad more random than my last one, but this one shall have a few more prayer requests. Pray for this Friday at Cumberland church, that our practice situation can be worked out. The church has a policy that THEIR sound tech must be present during practice or something...therefore limiting our practice to only 2 hours. not enough. AIYAAAA. Also pray for the weird acoustics in Oakland...that place is like a concrete box. Hopefully our team can adapt and put on a good performance. And lastly, pray for our team leader Johnny. He is experiencing intense jaw pain and thumb pain...which is terrible, because he sings and plays guitar. Hopefully through the power of prayer and through God's grace, his injuries will be taken care of. Ok, we're gonna eat...TOODLES!07/28/2006
Silence of the Lamb
Hmmm...such a strange blog title, thinkest thou. Well, as our team was traveling through Navajo land with our missionary friend, Mike, we stopped by his friend's house to say hello. What we got was much more than a "hello." On that windy, rainy night, the Music Ministry 2006 team was treated to the slaughtering of a sheep. Needless to say, it was not easy to watch. A few of the girls found it difficult to stomach, and most guys were more than a little unnerved.Imagine an innocent sheep, tied up at the feet, lying helpless on the ground. Smell the fresh blood as it pours out of the sheep's neck like a river. Look into those cold orbs, sucked so suddenly of their life and vitality. This is what I experienced. At first glance, it seems like a gruesome thing...and it is. But Pastor David reminded us of a very important detail: Jesus was also a sacrificial lamb. He was killed brutally with no protest and no say in his fate. I can begin to see what Jesus had to experience, and because of this, my view on His death is significantly changed.

The First Days…uh…Day? Ok, Day and a Half!
Hey guys, it’s Ryan, comin’ to you from the front seat of the 15-passenger van, cruisin’, rollin’, and bumpin’ through TEXAS! Yesterday sure was long; we had to wake up at 4, left at 5. Thanks to all the peeps that came to pray with us! Yeah, all in all a pretty slow day…just driving. Props to P. Eddie, Johnny, Roy, and James…these thugs were driving all day. When we finally reached El Paso, it was sweltering hot. Just kidding. It was raining so hard, I thought my shoulder was going to dislocate. We hit up a weird burger place called Whataburger (see Erik’s blog for more commentary).
The team is already starting to bond like crazy! Rich and I have the drummer connection, Joan gives me fruit when I need something to make me poo, Fernanda is mean to me, Roy keeps me in check, James watches anime with me, David…is just David, and Erik is going to be arrested in a matter of days. I am so excited to see what God’s going to do on this trip; we have such a diverse group, with all very different talents. We arrive in Houston this evening, so we will officially be plunged into “missions.” Pray that we can relate to the people there, that they can relate to our drama, that the heat doesn’t kill us, and that we keep our constant focus on God. Aitte, guys, I’m out like three strikes. PEACEEEEE!!!!

my story
Hey guys, my name is Ryan Sadamitsu, and I play drums for this here Music Ministry team. I was born in Pasadena, CA and was raised in Temple City, CA. Oftentimes you may find me doing really strange things and talking a little too much (and too loud!). I first picked up drumsticks in 7th grade, and since then I’ve been an avid drummer, playing snare drum for my high school drumline, playing in a rock band with some friends, and of course, playing for the worship team at my home church, Harvest LA. This is my second year on Music Ministry.
I came to know Christ on September 21st, 2003 through my cousin and number one homie, Ronny Gallegos. About half a year later, I started attending Harvest LA, where I’ve found my niche as “the drummer” and “the weird Japanese guy that is not as weird as the other Japanese guy (see David Mori).” I definitely am most in tune with the Lord when I am bangin’ away on those wooden, cylindrical wonders. About half a year ago, I wasn’t even sure if I would be going on Music Ministry at all. But, due to the persuasive words of Johnny Liao, and the guidance of the Big G above, I finally decided to come on board.
So yea! Don’t be scared to come up and talk to me (cuz I’m most likely afraid to come up and talk to you!) OK, I’m just kidding…but seriously, I need more friends :P
i confess...
- I talk A LOT when I get really nervous.
- I open up to others easily.
- I don't read my Bible everyday.
- I freak out when I get a pimple.
- There are times when I tune out from God.
- I believe in true love.
- I've fallen asleep during sermons.
- I forget to pray before I eat.
- Sometimes I choose other things over quiet times.
- I peek during prayer sometimes.
- I shut others out when I'm sad.
- I have to pee before performing.
